Privacy Policy

This website collects as little personal data as possible. There is no analytics, advertising or tracking. The only personal data I receive is what you send me through the contact form.

Who I am

I'm Simon De Ridder, a freelance designer and Webflow developer based in Prague, Czech Republic. I am the data controller for this website, simonderidder.com.

For any question about your data, email me. I'll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What data I collect

When you use the contact form. I receive the details you enter: your name, email address, message, and any project information you choose to share. I use this only to reply to you and, if we work together, to prepare a proposal. Submissions are stored in my Webflow account and forwarded to my email inbox.

When you visit the site. Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages briefly process technical data: your IP address, browser type, device, and the pages you request. This is needed to show you the site and keep it secure. I don't use this data to identify or profile you.

I don't sell your data, share it for marketing, or use it for automated decision-making.

Services this site uses

These providers process data on my behalf or when your browser loads files from them.

  • Webflow, Inc. hosts the website and stores contact form submissions. It processes your IP address, technical data and form entries, in the USA.
  • Google reCAPTCHA (Google Ireland / Google LLC) protects the contact form from spam and loads only when you open the form. It processes your IP address, device and browser data and how you interact with the page, in the EU and USA.
  • jsDelivr delivers code libraries used for animations and forms. It processes your IP address and technical data through a global network of servers.
  • bunny.net (BunnyWay d.o.o.) streams the background videos. It processes your IP address and technical data, in the EU (Slovenia).
  • Proton Mail (Proton AG) receives contact form notifications, including your form entries, in Switzerland, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate data protection.

When you open the contact form, Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies and send data to Google. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Cookies and local storage

This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.

  • site-sounds-muted (local storage, set by this site) remembers whether you turned the site sounds off. It stays on your device, is never sent to me, and lasts until you clear your browser data.
  • _GRECAPTCHA and other Google cookies (set by Google reCAPTCHA) are used for spam protection, only when you open the contact form. They last up to 6 months.

You can delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. If you block Google's cookies, the contact form may not work; you can always email me directly instead.

Legal basis, retention and transfers

  • Replying to your enquiry and preparing a proposal. Legal basis: steps taken before a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. I keep this data for 12 months after our last contact if we don't work together.
  • Running a project with you. Legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. I keep this data for the duration of the project, then as long as Czech tax and accounting law requires.
  • Hosting, security and spam protection. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in a secure, working website, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The providers keep server logs for a short period.

Transfers outside the EU. Webflow and Google may process data in the USA. Both are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also use the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask me to:

  • See the personal data I hold about you and get a copy
  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete
  • Delete your data when I no longer need it
  • Restrict how I use your data
  • Object to processing based on my legitimate interest
  • Transfer your data to you or another provider in a common format

To use any of these rights, email hello@simonderidder.com. It's free, and I'll respond within 30 days.

If you think I've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Czech data protection authority, the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (ÚOOÚ), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7.

You can also contact the authority in the EU country where you live.
